The IoT SIM for what you really need in IoT

What is an IoT/M2M SIM card?

M2M stands for "machine-to-machine," and thus refers to communication between machines or devices. Special M2M SIM cards, or IoT SIM cards, have been developed for such M2M connections in the Internet of Things and for connecting devices to the cellular network. Complemented by hyperscaler integration and industrial functions, the melita.io Lifetime IoT SIM card is your first choice for the IoT connectivity of tomorrow – in almost all industries.

Network independent: Best reception as standard

Those who rely on a consistently strong connection are best served by independent IoT SIM card providers. The melita.io IoT SIM is a network-independent M2M SIM provider and therefore does not prioritize a specific mobile network, but always the one with the best reception.

Where would you like to use the IoT SIM?

Please select your country of operation. If a country or a required technology is not yet available in the product, we will be happy to check this individually for your project.

IoT/M2M SIM cards vs. normal SIM cards

Unlike SIM cards for cell phones, IoT/M2M SIM cards are specialized for use in IoT devices. Both the industrial temperature range and the option of an MFF2 chip SIM are typical for applications in professional IoT devices. In the private sector, the SIM card usually only uses the connection of the network operator from which it comes. In locations that are not covered by the operator, users will then have no reception.

The situation is different with M2M SIM cards: These are also referred to as roaming M2M SIM or multi-network M2M SIM cards because they can access the mobile networks of various network operators nationally and internationally (national roaming). The more operators work with your IoT SIM card provider, the higher the coverage of your card - so your M2M devices always access the best network.

Easy integration into your IoT platform

Common IoT SIM solutions also include the ability to manage your SIM cards online and connect them to your preferred cloud. On the integrated IoT connector With the melita.io Lifetime IoT SIM, you can manage and monitor your devices. This allows you to keep an eye on data volume, data exchange, and device status at all times, and the IoT SIM cards can be ideally combined with the Hyperscaler of your choice use.

With the right connectivity, you can network your IoT device securely and
efficient for the entire product life cycle. Our IoT SIM is suitable for both central computing approaches via LPWAN protocols such as NB IoT or LTE M, as well as for Edge-based, i.e. decentralized use cases with larger bandwidths, such as LTE/4G or 5G.

IoT connectivity with format

The requirements for IoT SIM cards have continued to change over the years. This is how various shapes and sizes of IoT SIM cards were created. The smaller the IoT SIM card is, the smaller the device used can be and the more other parts can be installed in the device. The largest IoT SIM card format is called “Standard IoT SIM” and is similar in size to an EC card. The following generations are more common Mini IoT SIM, Micro IoT SIM and Nano IoT SIM. These are also known as 2FF, 3FF and 4FF. “FF” stands for form factor, the respective number for the generation of the form factor.

Generally will be today 4-in-1 IoT SIM cards provided in the standard size, from which users can cut out the appropriate format thanks to a punch.

These IoT SIM cards are usually inserted into a designated opening on the device. The situation is different with the so-called Embedded IoT SIM (MFF2 IoT SIM or standard eSIM). This is a lot smaller and is soldered directly onto the device. Our MFF2 IoT SIM cards in particular are hermetically sealed and can therefore withstand various weather conditions, shocks, temperatures and other environmental influences. This makes them very robust and durable.

The IoT SIM card that always fits: All IoT SIM card formats are available from melita.io in the industrial SIM version – ready for immediate use with the IoT device of your choice.

Yes, about the Portalis melita.io Lifetime IoT SIM.

Both technologies are particularly suitable for IoT applications and are supported by us. In Germany, both technologies are available on several networks. Even though the expansion of both technologies is progressing worldwide, in some countries, especially outside the EU, both technologies have not yet been developed. In principle, if the country of use is not known, we recommend the use of so-called combination modules, which support both technologies at the same time.

The IoT SIM offer is only aimed at business customers. Use is only permitted for IoT and M2M applications. Any other use is not permitted.
